How the estimate is calculated

The calculator generates an estimated price range using four inputs: route distance between pickup and delivery ZIPs, vehicle size class, transport type (open or enclosed), and operating condition (running or non-running). Distance is the largest single driver — cross-country routes typically run $0.55–$0.75 per mile for open transport, while short-haul regional routes can run $1.00 per mile or more because carriers can't spread fuel and time costs across the same distance. Vehicle class adjusts the base rate to account for trailer space and weight: sedans and coupes sit at the baseline, SUVs and pickups carry a moderate uplift, and luxury, classic, or motorcycle shipments use different carrier pools and equipment categories.

What affects your final quote

The estimate is a route-and-vehicle baseline. The final quote your coordinator delivers may differ from the estimate for a few reasons. Non-running vehicles require winch or forklift equipment and add roughly 15% to the base rate. Expedited pickup windows — guaranteed carrier assignment within 24–48 hours — typically add $200–$350 to long-haul shipments. Residential pickups in tight-access neighborhoods may shift to a nearby commercial meeting point, which doesn't change cost but changes logistics. Seasonal demand also moves rates: snowbird routes (Northeast to Florida) spike October through January, and West Coast inbound demand peaks in summer. The estimate gives you the market range; your coordinator confirms the price your specific shipment will book at.

How to read your estimate range

Each estimate shows a low end and a high end. The low end represents what the route typically books at during favorable conditions — adequate carrier supply, no expedited window, vehicle in standard condition. The high end accounts for less-favorable conditions: tight schedules, higher-demand seasonality, vehicle types that narrow the eligible carrier pool. Most shipments book within this range. If a separate broker quotes you significantly below the low end, that's a signal the price may not hold — bait-and-switch pricing is the most common complaint in the auto transport industry. The published rate that books your carrier is the rate that should appear on your final invoice.

What happens after the estimate

The calculator is a self-service tool — no email gate, no contact form, no callback. When you're ready to book, request a formal quote and a dedicated coordinator will confirm your route is dispatchable, verify that current carrier availability supports the estimated rate, and lock the price in writing. From there, the coordinator handles carrier assignment, insurance verification on the assigned carrier, pickup scheduling, and delivery coordination. One person from quote to delivery — not a call center, not a rotating queue.

Common questions

Is the estimate binding?

No. The estimate is a market-rate baseline. Your final quote — confirmed by a coordinator — is the rate that books your carrier and is locked in writing. Once booked, that rate doesn't change unless you change the shipment.

Why might my final quote differ from the estimate?

Final quotes reflect current carrier availability on your specific route and dates. If carrier supply is tight, the rate may sit toward the high end; if supply is strong, toward the low end. Non-running condition, expedited pickup, and specialty vehicle types also affect the final number — the estimate uses the most common parameters by default.

Do you charge to use the calculator?

No. The calculator is free, requires no contact information, and produces an instant estimate. There's no email gate, no callback obligation, and no upsell sequence.
