How Conveyed prices vehicle transport
Vehicle transport rates are not arbitrary — they're a function of four primary inputs: distance, vehicle size, transport type (open vs. enclosed), and seasonal demand. Understanding how each input affects the final quote helps you evaluate whether a given rate is fair or inflated.
Distance is the largest single driver. Per-mile rates decrease as distance increases because the carrier's fixed costs — dispatch, loading, unloading, insurance, fuel to reach the pickup — are spread across more miles. A 300-mile regional move might cost $1.00–$1.50 per mile, while a 2,500-mile cross-country shipment drops to $0.55–$0.75 per mile. This is why short-haul quotes can feel expensive relative to the distance — the per-unit cost of the carrier's time and equipment doesn't scale down linearly.
Vehicle size adjusts the base rate to account for trailer space and weight. A compact sedan occupies the smallest slot on the carrier and sits at the baseline rate. A full-size SUV or pickup truck takes more vertical clearance and significantly more weight — carriers factor this into the per-vehicle cost because it reduces the number of other vehicles they can load. Modified, lifted, or oversized vehicles may require specialty positioning or flatbed transport, which carries a further premium. Motorcycles, on the other hand, cost roughly 35–45% of what a comparable car shipment costs because they occupy less space and weigh far less.
Transport type determines the carrier pool and per-unit economics. Open carriers haul 7–10 vehicles per load, distributing fuel and driver costs across more units — this keeps open transport at the lowest price point. Enclosed carriers haul 2–6 vehicles, use more expensive equipment (soft-tie strapping, lift gates, enclosed trailers), and serve a smaller market segment. The result: enclosed transport costs 55–70% more than open on the same route for the same vehicle.
Seasonal demand moves rates 10–25% above or below the baseline depending on the corridor and time of year. Summer is peak season nationally. Snowbird corridors (Northeast to Florida, Midwest to Arizona) spike in fall and spring. Holiday weeks and month-end dates see brief demand surges. Flexible timing — shipping mid-month, mid-week, or during shoulder seasons — consistently produces lower rates.
Every Conveyed quote includes carrier dispatch, insurance verification, real-time tracking updates, Bill of Lading documentation, and a dedicated coordinator from quote to delivery. There are no fuel surcharges, booking fees, or hidden line items added after the quote is issued. The price confirmed by your coordinator is the price on your invoice.

Common pricing questions.
No. Your quote includes all standard charges. The only scenario where pricing adjusts is if vehicle details change after booking — for example, if a vehicle listed as running turns out to be non-running at pickup.
A deposit is collected at booking to secure your carrier and confirm the dispatch. The remaining balance is due upon delivery, payable directly to the carrier or via our payment system.
Yes. Contact us directly for military, multi-vehicle, or repeat-customer pricing. Volume arrangements are handled on a case-by-case basis.
Enclosed trailers carry fewer vehicles per load (typically 2–6 vs. 7–10 on open carriers), have higher operating costs, and require specialized equipment. The per-vehicle cost is higher because the carrier's revenue is spread across fewer units.
Expedited guarantees carrier assignment and pickup within 24–48 hours of booking. Standard scheduling typically takes 3–7 days for carrier assignment depending on route availability.
